The Oscar of World Gastronomy Awarded to Franck Deville

A new distinction for Franck Deville, the artisan macaron maker to chefs: Great Taste, the most coveted food award in the world, has granted its highest accolade to his lemon macaron.

Great Taste, organized every year in London by the Guild of Fine Food, celebrates the best food and drink worldwide. It brings together 500 professionals (food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, producers, food writers and journalists) who blind-taste nearly 14 000 products.

Recognized as the most respected food accreditation program for artisans and speciality food producers, it provides a mark of excellence for consumers and retailers. Great Taste values taste above all else, regardless of brand and packaging. The judges savor, discuss and then taste again to decide which products deserve a 1, 2 or 3 star award.

A first-class texture
Franck Deville's lemon macaron, produced at his workshop in Roche-la-Molière in the Loire, has won the highest award: 3 stars, which designate a food that is ?exquisite, extraordinarily tasty?.

Of the 13 672 products entered in the Great Taste 2024 competition, only 1,8% were awarded 3 stars, placing the Franck Deville macaron among the best products tasted by the judges this year.

This lemon macaron is made of a French meringue and a filling based on a buttercream lightened with a custard enhanced with Sicilian lemon juice. In their comments, the judges highlighted ?the first-class texture and rich flavor?.

A rare and prestigious honor
Recognized for the quality of his macarons, whose base ingredients he selects with precision, Franck Deville now ranks first in the world. This distinction is an exceptional showcase for his macarons, judged to be ?of high quality?. Winning an award in this competition, in particular 3 stars, is a rare and prestigious honor that distinguishes a product as being among the best in the world in its category.
