Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas Settles in Kaplankaya

The hotel will open its doors for the new season on 1er May 2018. The renovation of the property complies with Six Senses design, sustainability and wellbeing standards to create a unique experience that appeals to all the senses, in order to achieve a perfect balance.
It bears the signature of Clodagh Design, a multidisciplinary design firm based in New York. The company initially won over Six Senses with its eco-conscious spirit and its high-quality portfolio, and is also behind the award-winning renovation of Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal.

Located in the Bay of Bodrum, Six Senses Kaplankaya aims to offer a pioneering approach to wellbeing while preserving the region's natural environment, rich in history and culture.

Indeed, the resort blends seamlessly into the large Kaplankaya development, which is seeing the construction of multiple villas, resorts and hotels, a marina with 250 berths and a yacht club, a shopping center and several restaurants and sports and leisure facilities. The goal is to create a luxurious and environmentally responsible destination that will have a positive economic and social impact on the region.

Six Senses Kaplankaya harmoniously combines ancient architecture and modern comfort with its 141 rooms, 6 suites, 66 Ridge villas and residences. The resort's magnificent landscapes, located on the Turkish Aegean coast, alternate between rugged cliffs, secluded golden beaches and hills covered with wild olive trees and cypresses.

Turkish hospitality begins from the moment you arrive: you can reach the hotel by speedboat or by helicopter, flying over hills with centuries-old olive trees, before landing on the jade-colored lawn of the hotel pavilion.

You will discover a welcome courtyard that delights all the senses with designs by local artisans and jets of water from the shimmering pool. Guests will pass through a wooden gate lit by lanterns to reach a brightly lit lobby. They will walk along a glass ramp offering a view of the hotel's top four floors, overlooking the ocean.

The lobby is composed of a sculptural collage of kilim rugs and leather poufs, arranged on layered Turkish carpets. Tables made from pieces of local olive wood, including one adorned with gold leaf, offer Turkish delight and signature drinks to guests for an ideal welcome.

This warm design, blended with traditional touches, continues into the rooms. A flat-woven rug serves as a bed frame, set against a leather-lined wall. The soft yellow hue of the room and the ochre, indigo and turquoise lamps invite gentle daydreaming. An original painting by a Turkish artist completes the decor.

The rooms also include a desk and a comfortable chair, with a coffee machine and minibar. A passage to the outer corridor for discreet room service completes the whole. Not to mention the technology: an iPad to control the air conditioning and lighting, Marshall Bluetooth speakers and WiFi.

At Six Senses Kaplankaya, dining is given great care – with the Eat With Six Senses concept – offering guests the chance to eat more healthily. The menu features local produce from the resort's organic garden and olives from the region, fish market catches and harvests from neighboring villages. Mediterranean cuisine with Aegean inspiration is the main theme of the three restaurants: the Sage & Sea restaurant and bar, the Wild Thyme restaurant and bar, and the Mezze by the Sea restaurant.

You can enjoy drinks at the main beach bar and at the new library bar, which also serves morning snacks and coffee. It is the ideal place to linger and check your e-mails or, on the contrary, to forget technology and spend an hour immersed in a book picked from the hotel's library. The sliding doors at the back of the bar offer an ideal light-and-shadow transition for admiring the bay while sipping a cocktail.

The resort has five conference and event rooms in carefully chosen neutral colors. They are equipped with cutting-edge technology and can host a range of groups and events, from meetings and conferences to receptions and movie nights. Participants can enjoy the sun between sessions and stroll in the garden, richly planted with aromatic herbs, fruit trees, fragrant jasmine flowers and vines climbing over shaded pergolas. A meditation labyrinth offers descending steps close enough to the water to be splashed by the swell.

The small souks present a selection of jewelry, sculptures, ceramics and crafts to take home. Rugs from neighboring towns are displayed on massive shelves, like works of art. Weekly mini-bazaars throughout the resort attract local artisans for a day of entertainment that allows guests to connect with the local community.

History lovers will also be rewarded thanks to the towns of Didim and Bodrum. They will be able to discover the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, both of which are among the Seven Wonders of the World.

With an area of 10 000 square meters, the Six Senses Spa Kaplankaya is the ideal retreat to offer its guests and residents optimal wellbeing. The journey begins with a long meditation walk filled with gently flickering lights and shadows. The abstract Ottoman patterns on the walls give the impression of strolling through a real jewelry box. The ceiling is scattered with flashes of light, like crystals sparkling brilliantly, to provide a wonderful experience for guests.

The spa, spread over two floors, offers an impressive range of signature treatments. Unique artifacts and healing visual artworks enhance the experiences and make navigation easier.

The resort also offers two new concepts: the Alchemy Bar serves cocktails inspired by wondrous potions and fairy-tale remedies. As for the Earth Lab, it will allow guests to reconnect with nature. They will notably learn about some new responsible habits that will enable them to make a difference during their travels and in their daily lives.

To reach the hotel, Milas-Bodrum International Airport (BJV) is only 10 minutes by helicopter, 30 minutes by boat and 50 minutes by road. The airport offers connections from Istanbul and other Turkish cities, as well as seasonal connections from many European cities such as Amsterdam, Baku, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Paris and Saint Petersburg.
