SAVVA restaurant at the Metropol Hotel welcomes World Cup visitors

The SAVVA restaurant is one of the most iconic venues on Moscow's gastronomic map.
Local residents and international guests come here daily to discover and better understand contemporary Russian cuisine, which Chef Andrey Shmakov presents in an innovative way.
The richness of Russian flavors can be found in the organic products used by the Chef. From SAVVA's welcoming terrace, guests can enjoy a stunning view of the Bolshoi Theatre and admire the beauty of this city steeped in history.
The restaurant is located in the very heart of the capital, a stone's throw from Red Square, on the ground floor of the legendary Metropol Hotel Moscow, in a historic hall inspired by the era of the tsars, with sumptuous ceiling paintings, plasterwork and ancient columns. Its gastronomic traditions, meanwhile, are infused with a touch of modernity.
Andrey Shmakov, a Russian Chef who has worked in the best kitchens in Europe and Russia, is helping people rediscover Russian cuisine using authentic products from every corner of this immense country: Kamchatka crab salad, cucumber, dill, spinach, Far Eastern salmon caviar, quail eggs, farm-raised duck from the Tambov region with celery, blackcurrant, heart and duck confit. Root vegetables, fresh berries, pickles, domestic and wild poultry, seafood from the North and the Far East... everything the best that Russia has to offer, on which SAVVA has been based since its creation.
This summer, the restaurant invites its guests to taste an assortment of traditional Russian dishes made up of six courses, and to discover the traditional Russian ?The Ceremony? based on Altai herbal tea and organic honey. The assortment consists of buckwheat pancakes with salmon, pike caviar, quail eggs and Far Eastern eel glazed with kvass, in addition to borscht made with duck and sweet-and-sour cherries, and dumplings with an original filling.
Guests can also enjoy pike in Champagne sauce, Black Sea grey mullet, beef fillet with mushrooms and blackcurrant, as well as the traditional honey cake with beetroot and raspberry jelly. And the ceremony of course begins with the traditional horseradish vodka!
This season, football stars Julien Faubert, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Samuel Eto'o, Peter Odemwingie and Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye had the chance to experience this ceremony at SAVVA.
In addition, SAVVA welcomes World Cup visitors with fine Russian wines, local craft beers and, of course, live football matches on a big screen!
In 2017, the international gastronomic guide Gault&Millau listed SAVVA as one of the best restaurants in Moscow. SAVVA became one of the three restaurants to obtain the highest 4 distinction of ?chef's hats?. La Liste 2017 has also listed SAVVA as one of the best restaurants in Moscow.
Thanks to Andrey Shmakov's creativity applied to traditional Russian cuisine, the original interiors and the professionalism of the teams, SAVVA is also among the best restaurants in Moscow in 2018 according to the Scandinavian guide White Guide.
