Pyxo, 1ère solution that enables restaurants to go zero waste

Pyxo offers the 1ère turnkey solution to make every restaurant 100% zero waste. The concept? Attractive, reusable, eco-designed food containers (to buy or to rent) that replace and eliminate the disposable packaging used for coffee breaks and lunch. With a considerable added value: digital deposit management technology and relevant partnerships for a solution that is extremely easy to use.
Pyxo helps restaurants enter the reusable era with complete ease. In a few words, Pyxo is...
1. Reusable containers, all eco-designed and Made in France (in the Jura);
2. A logistics and cleaning network based on local players throughout France;
3. And tracking technology to manage deposits digitally, with no sign-up and no mobile app.
Restaurateurs stand to gain: not only is this service in line with their customers' expectations and enhances their brand image, but its price also fits their budgets, strained by the health crisis.
They were designed in partnership with Coopérative Mu, an independent eco-design agency that notably carried out a complete life cycle assessment (LCA) of the Pyxo service in order to compare it with disposable packaging. It studied many parameters, such as the material of the reusable containers, transport and durability. Based on the data collected, Pyxo developed an innovative container that meets a triple challenge:
- it minimizes environmental impact: all decisions (material, design, manufacturer, logistics, cleaning) are made based on the LCA;
- it meets the long and complex specifications of fast food and takeaway catering;
- it is practical and durable.
Benjamin PERI, co-founder, emphasizes: ?Our product is truly unique on the market because it offers unrivaled technical and environmental performance, while being suited to the challenges faced by foodservice professionals. And as a bonus, it is beautiful and attractive! ?
Going zero waste is simple and easy thanks to the digital deposit technology ?made by Pyxo?. The idea is that everyone benefits, restaurateurs and their customers alike, and easily adopts the concept of reusable containers. In time, it will even become a reflex!
An investment reduced to a minimum
For professionals, the transition has no significant impact on their budget, since the investment required is 60 ? to convert any restaurant to zero waste and any bin into a PyxoBox collector. Moreover, choosing Pyxo creates no constraint or slowdown in the sales process.
Open, smooth and secure access
Anyone can join the Pyxo network and have a zero-waste lunch at their favorite restaurateurs, caterers and delivery services, with no registration fee, no personal data transmitted and no app. Benjamin explains: ?All the restaurateurs in our network are connected: it is therefore possible to take a container from restaurant A and return it to a collector at restaurant B or even within one's own company.? Whatever the origin of the Pyxo deposit account, it can then be used anywhere within the network. Moreover, this technology interfaces with the apps of foodtech players and integrates as a gray label into existing deposit networks. Finally, it will soon be interfaced with connected fridges in companies and with the ordering apps of well-known players.
While talking with deposit scheme players in France through the association Réseau Consigne, the Pyxo Dream Team realized that they all face the same issues: either the reusable container does not suit their needs, or deposit management is too complex.
To help them, Pyxo offers its containers and technology to them as white label. The aim is to democratize zero waste, to standardize reusable containers as much as possible in order to avoid any marketing appropriation, and to interconnect all these deposit networks through a single back-office for managing users' deposit accounts. Benjamin confirms: The indicator behind all our decisions is the quantity of waste eliminated. That is why we decided to offer our solutions as white label to our ?competitors?. We can do without mass-market fame as long as it serves the transition to zero waste.
A container suited to the general public
Pyxo is launching a crowdfunding campaign on KissKissBankBank starting on September 15 to fund the creation of a reusable container for individuals in a 100% bio-based material: GreenFib. It is made in Brittany from reeds, talc and castor oil. The campaign works on a ?Buy One Give One? principle: for every purchase made, a container will be given free of charge to Pyxo's partners:
- either deposit scheme players: Strasbourg (e.g. Hoplunch.com), Lille, La Réunion, Montpellier, Sofia, Marseille, Paris, Savoie...;
- or restaurateurs (e.g. Naturaliste)
- or foodtech companies such as PopChef.
After the first model of 750 ml, Pyxo is working on creating two other formats (900 ml and 300 ml). In time, the French start-up plans to meet all of the sector's needs: sandwiches, burgers, cutlery, bags...
And this is only the beginning! Food industry manufacturers are considering packaging their products in PyxoBoxes in stores, which would eliminate disposable packaging. Pyxo is therefore studying solutions to offer a suitable deposit system.
A circular economy solution that puts "green" at the heart of takeaway food. Disposable packaging is not inevitable!
