PegaSys, Ingersoll Rand's intelligent access control system

PegaSys, Ingersoll Rand's intelligent access control system, now incorporates online validation, which enables it to interact continuously with access badges.
It is thus a complete, fully integrated solution, with validators, electronic levers, wall readers and cylinders. Easy to install and to expand, and particularly robust, PegaSys can manage up to 65000 users and 65000 doors.
It is aimed in particular at hospitals, universities, government offices, airports, and industrial or commercial companies with anywhere from one door to thousands, on a single site or several.
Whereas the system was previously stand-alone, the addition of online validators allows permanent interaction between users and the system. The levers or cylinders obey the instructions held on the badges, which are themselves programmed by the validators. The validators allow access rights to be updated daily (or even more frequently if necessary).
They must be installed at all entrances to the building or site, but can also be placed at other points of passage such as canteens or changing rooms, to suit the installations and their users.
Each time a user presents their badge to the validator, a read/write process updates the access rights on the badge and collects the information passed to it by the stand-alone levers, for example low battery status. Up to 4 validators can be used with each online controller, for a maximum of 16 validators.
PegaSys is a simple answer to access and key management problems: no need to replace cylinders when keys are lost, no more individual keys, no need to check that doors are locked at the end of the day, a flexible organization chart, the ability to retrieve the event history, and peace of mind with optimal protection of property and effective access control.
PegaSys is particularly resistant. For example, the housing of the electronic levers is made of stainless steel 1,8mm thick, making it suitable for high-traffic applications.
The rose plates are mounted on the backplate with through-fixing screws, and the clutch mechanism is tested to 60 Newtons.
Battery life is 50 000 to 75 000 cycles for the electronic levers and 20 000 to 25 000 cycles for the cylinders. The levers are IP 54 certified, while the cylinders and validators are IP 65 certified.
PegaSys also stands out for its ease of installation and low cost. Whereas all doors previously had to be wired, PegaSys uses only wireless electronic devices (levers, cylinders) to guarantee a secure access control solution. These devices are completely independent and can be installed on any type of door (without additional drilling) and on any site without restriction.
A lever or cylinder can be installed on a door in just a few minutes. Each electronic device is programmed during the setup phase using system cards.
These cards also make it possible to download diagnostics and event histories. User badges are encoded using the programmer connected to the PC on which the system management software is installed. If Mifare badges are already in use, they can often be reprogrammed to work with PegaSys.
At any time, levers, cylinders or validators can be added very simply, so that the system can evolve with changes in the organization being secured. For buildings that require additional functionality, up to 4 online controllers can be integrated, each capable of controlling 4 validators.
Access rights also allow time-based control, so that a user can enter a particular room only for a given time, for example for a meeting.
Online validation also allows the system to be extended to control multiple geographical sites via a central PC.
This configuration makes the solution particularly well suited to buildings where user access rights must be updated regularly.
Two other major innovations are planned for this year. First, management by Netbook, which will be linked to the central PC and will be able to go directly to the doors to read the information.
Second, a radio link using the Zigbee protocol, which will ensure communication between the locks, and therefore with the controllers and the central PC.
PegaSys is sold through a network of regional Ingersoll Rand approved distributors. A spare parts service in 48h, and delivery of solutions in 2 to 4 weeks are guaranteed. To facilitate maintenance, full traceability of all components, with centralized management in Europe, is ensured.
