Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts raises its fourth flag in Tunisia

The Swiss hotel group has signed an agreement with Société Touristique du Sud to manage Le Plaza Sfax & Spa Hotel, an upscale property located in the city center on Rue Khalid Ibn Walid, close to the historic Medina, a short walk from the largest convention center, Sfax International Fair, and only 10 km from Sfax-Thyna Airport.
When the Mövenpick Hotel Sfax opens, it will be the group's fourth address in Tunisia.
?This forthcoming addition to our Tunisian portfolio will expand our regional footprint, confirming our presence in a new destination with strong growth potential,? explains Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
?Sfax is not only a historic city with Mediterranean charm, but also a booming business and commercial hub where the upscale hotel offering is relatively limited and corporate demand is strong. Operating a property in a central location with a large number of high-quality facilities will allow us to benefit from these favorable market conditions,? he continues.
The 89-key property, rising over nine floors, features contemporary architecture and a modern, nature-inspired interior design concept, with open spaces and neutral, harmonious colors that create a relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel will include a large spa, a swimming pool and a fitness center, as well as a ballroom and six meeting rooms, while three upscale restaurants will offer all-day dining, including a specialty restaurant on the rooftop with panoramic views of the city and the coast.
?This attractive address is located in a prime real estate area in the heart of Sfax and represents a unique opportunity for a hospitality specialist with regional and international expertise to create a unique business and leisure destination,? said Mourad Jallali, President & CEO of La Société Touristique du Sud.
?With its solid experience in managing a portfolio of properties in North Africa, we are confident that Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will achieve enormous success with this project.?
Mövenpick also operates the recently opened Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis, as well as Mövenpick Resort & Marine Spa Sousse and Mövenpick Hotel Gammarth Tunis.
