?I Killed My Father?, console: an expression of revolt against today's narcissism in Western society

?I Killed My Father?, console: an expression of revolt against today's narcissism in Western society
Ann Grim expresses her vision of a relationship shaped by contemporary mores and trends. A reaction to current aggressions is evoked. Instinctive pathology is opposed in the name of a higher ethical and aesthetic ideal.
On the aesthetic level, Ann Grim takes a surrealist approach.

This mode of expression represents a reality that transcends banal, everyday life, highlighting the ?truer than true?.

To evoke this tension, the young designer created a sculptural work using a hand-painted hammerhead shark skeleton, combined with raw steel.

Ann Grim used emotional forms to represent a parallel axis that corresponds more to the world of dreams than to that of reality.

The jaw trapped by the steel, combined with the schizophrenia evoked by the choice of shark species, conveys the intensity of the designer's feelings.

The metaphor Ann Grim employs makes it immediately apparent that reality does not match this dream. Ann Grim thus oscillates between creating a functional piece and an oneiric universe. The coexistence, as well as the complementarity, of these two entities contributes significantly to the depth of the designer's work.

While there is no doubt that Ann Grim drew heavily on her personal life and feelings to create this piece, it remains undeniable that her imagination has succeeded in ?fictionalizing? them.

Form stems from emotion.

Art or Design? Experimental forms freed from marketing constraints? Definitive volumes or pieces that are both sculptural and utilitarian?

Ann Grim's work lies at the exact intersection of these questions. What makes the nature of a work of art is the experience of the many emotions it provokes in us. Ann Grim's creations are of this kind: a way of weaving the experience of social, urban and cultural connection into a sculptural volume with a functional form.
