GO IN's Bellevue di Monaco: When Design Tells a Story

Landsberg am Lech - Among the many new additions to the GO IN 2019 range, one product family stands out. Under the gentle name Bellevue di Monaco, tables and chairs with a design that is both pared-down and exclusive tell a fascinating story.
The Bellevue di Monaco furniture family was born from an ambitious project in which GO IN took part as a partner. Over the course of a semester, students from the design faculty of the University of Munich were tasked with designing a series of chairs and tables for the information café of Bellevue di Monaco, a residential and cultural center for unaccompanied young refugees in the Gärtnerplatzviertel district of Munich, whose official completion of construction was celebrated in June 2018.
Stackable, stable, versatile
The furniture not only had to harmonize with the 50 architecture of the renovated building complex, it also had to be inexpensive to produce and, in the best case, be marketable afterwards, which is now the case. It therefore had to meet the high demands of the foodservice industry: being stackable, sufficiently stable and versatile. GO IN stepped in as a specialist in functional, individual and design-oriented furniture for professionals. Maurus Reisenthel, Managing and Creative Director of GO IN, supported the project as a designer and contributed to the design and construction of the furniture. Together with the project participants, he guided the students' concept from the initial idea through technical development to commercial viability. The finished furniture was then personalized in a workshop by refugees living at Bellevue di Monaco, within a defined design freedom, so that they could take part in the project.
Light or dark? Both!
The result: elegant and comfortable chairs with a bent steel tube frame and a seat and backrest shell in molded wood, and three square tables made of the same material, working both as individual tables and as a set. Maurus Reisenthel: ?The furniture is contemporary, aesthetic and commercial. The whole requires good design.? In the GO IN range, the frame of the dining tables and chairs has been available since 2019 in glossy gold and matt black; the seats and table tops are made of molded wood and are available in light oak and black abachi versions. The color combination of the wood and the frame creates interesting light/dark contrasts.
Good to know: for every piece sold, a sum is donated to the social cooperative. It holds the rights to the collaborative design, so that GO IN's social project is supported over the long term.
