Forbo's Modul'up: flooring with unrivalled performance

Quick and easy installation, lower costs and reduced environmental impact
Designing floor coverings that require no adhesive for installation is the aim of Forbo Flooring Systems, emblematic of its commitment to the environment and health, now and in the future. This development strategy responds squarely to the challenges of the construction market: shorter construction times, optimized profitability and sustainable development.
2013 saw the arrival of the first Sarlon habitat modul'up range, designed for the private areas of dwellings (premises classified at most U2sP2 & U2sP3). This exclusive loose-lay solution was then extended to high-traffic areas (premises classified at most U3P3 & U4P3) with Sarlon trafic modul'up, which received two awards in 2016: the Janus des Composants et Matériaux and the Produit du BTP label 2017. In 5 years, more than a million m² of Modul'up flooring have been installed!
Quick and easy installation, in new builds as well as renovations, particularly during works in occupied premises, the ability to cover old floors, including those containing asbestos, design and technical performance: the benefits of this innovation are numerous and appeal to professionals and users alike. To complete its offer and now be able to meet all market segments, including healthcare, Forbo has launched a new Compact modul'up version.
Modul'up: a unique, innovative technology with no glue or double-sided adhesive
Modul'up technology consists of a PVC floor covering featuring a dual Structural Stabilization System DSx3, ensuring perfect resistance to stress throughout its service life. An exclusive jointing strip applied to the seams, with no perimeter fixing, makes installation easier and allows welding if required.
With Modul'up technology and its weighted structure that allows immediate adhesion to the floor, installation companies gain peace of mind: glue-free installation reduces the physical strain of the work by cutting down on handling and on steps carried out in a "crouching" position. Other aims of this innovative concept are to improve indoor air quality and acoustic comfort for occupants.
Moreover, eliminating adhesives during installation makes Modul'up flooring an excellent contributor to the cause of the planet and sustainable development.
Exceptional performance
Modul'up floor coverings combine many performance features: perfect dimensional stability, optimal resistance to extreme stress and indentation, guaranteed watertightness...
In addition, they conceal any defects in the substrates on which they are laid.
Productivity gains and increased profitability are welcome corollaries of loose-lay installation. Installation that is 2 times faster than a glued floor and reduced downtime of premises, thanks to the absence of glue drying time or of levelling in the case of overlay, prove highly beneficial, for example in commercial and office spaces where direct loss of earnings can be damaging. In new builds, construction times are shortened and Modul'up offers a 25 % reduction in maintenance and intervention costs. The same savings apply in renovation, since no substrate preparation is required. Installation in occupied premises is particularly advantageous: disturbance is almost nil (noise, dust, glue odors) and the possibility of directly covering old substrates (tiles, laminate, compact PVC), including those containing asbestos under sub-section 4[2], makes it possible to adapt to a multitude of projects, with the benefit of immediate commissioning (that is, 3 days less than with glued installation). Simplified and "secure" site management that installation companies can usefully highlight to project owners in order to stand out from their competitors.
It should be noted that subsequent removal is also instantaneous, without damaging the substrate, and recycling is easy as well, since all Modul'up references are eligible for the PVC skip.
Three ranges to meet every need
Sarlon habitat modul'up
The original range of Modul'up technology, Sarlon habitat modul'up is designed for the private areas of dwellings, in new builds and renovations. It is particularly popular in the latter sector because of its great flexibility of use: it can be installed on old substrates, without levelling work, and in occupied premises; reduced downtime of premises satisfies residents, who are not disturbed by overly long works, and installation companies, for whom this optimization of working time, once again, increases competitiveness.
Its proven acoustic performance of 19 dB is a major asset in multi-family housing, as are its great walking comfort, its design and its ease of maintenance.
Sarlon trafic modul'up
Suitable for all public buildings (ERP) as well as the common areas of housing, Sarlon trafic modul'up is rated fit for use in premises classified at most U3 P3 / U4 P3.
Buoyed by the enthusiasm for this range, which has been awarded a Janus des Composants et Matériaux 2016 and a Produit du BTP label 2017, Forbo has chosen to expand it, going from 18 to 30 references, thereby multiplying the aesthetic possibilities. The Wood designs feature a new surface grain that enhances their realism. As for colors, Forbo plays on the complementarity between the "Unis" (plain) and the new "Codes zéro", which offer the same colors with circular geometric shapes, to bring both harmony and originality to layouts.
It should be stressed that, like Sarlon habitat modul'up, Sarlon trafic modul'up offers optimal acoustic performance of 19 dB, a very valuable comfort feature in nursing homes, for example.
