Forbo's Marmoleum marbled, an environmentally friendly floor

A major player in resilient flooring, Forbo stands out for an exemplary environmental commitment that drives every solution it develops: its Marmoleum range, made from 97% natural raw materials, of which 72% are renewable, is emblematic of this eco-responsible approach. The use of ingredients containing bio-based materials in its linoleum collections is combined with proven inventiveness, both technical and aesthetic.
Today, Marmoleum marbled is also part of a genuine circular economy approach. In addition, its 3 original marbled structures (fresco, real and vivace) are joined by 2 new ones (terra and splash), offering a colour palette extended to 90 references.
Marmoleum: eco-design in its DNA
From the moment it is created, Marmoleum marbled (like all the floor coverings in the Marmoleum family) is a hymn to nature. It is made of natural raw materials, most of them renewable: linseed oil, pine resin, wood flour (PEFC-certified and sourced from sustainably managed forests), pigments and mineral fillers, on a jute backing.
Its very manufacturing process has a low environmental impact, as the Marmoleum production site has reduced its carbon footprint by 23% in 6 years. Indeed, since 2009 Forbo has been deploying the 4 R method: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Renew. Among the improvements that help make Marmoleum an environmentally friendly floor, we can highlight the reduction in energy consumption, the reuse of jute offcuts to make bags, the recycling of clean production waste and the exclusive use of 100% renewable electricity.
Finally, Forbo also pays particular attention to user well-being: naturally antibacterial, Marmoleum ensures optimal indoor air quality, with VOC emissions up to 20 times lower than the threshold of the best labelling class, A+.
The environment, a source of inspiration for ever more environmentally friendly floors
As Forbo puts it: ?browsing the Marmoleum marbled designs is like taking a walk in nature, with marbling depicting rocky shores, steep mountains or country furrows, and shades evoking dense forests, sunny valleys or wild fruits...?
The new collection offers the widest range of colours on the market, with 90 references, which perfectly complements the Marmoleum Solid & Striato collection launched in 2017. Among the 5 designs making up the Marmoleum marbled range, the classics fresco, real and vivace compete in realism.
Subtle and refined, the tone-on-tone marbling of fresco (38 in total), with its fresh, delicate faux-plain look, brings harmony, serenity and modernity to spaces. With more contrasting veining, real elegantly combines 2 to 5 colours within a single design (while offering 33, from warm neutrals and cool greys to vivid, luminous shades) and embodies the very essence of linoleum for devotees of the natural and authentic.
As for vivace, as its name suggests, it is the most lively and vibrant design in the collection: it boldly and contrastingly mixes 8 colours against a predominant shade (9 references in total are thus offered) to create a chameleon-like look that adapts to every interior by coordinating with the elements and colours of the room. Its patterns almost come alive and give an impression of movement: intensity and subtlety characterise this design with a strong personality.
Two new designs join the Marmoleum marbled range: terra and splash. Resolutely functional, terra offers the advantage of such fine marbling that it reduces the visibility of any maintenance flaws, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Its 4 colours stand out for their versatility and combine easily with the other Marmoleum designs, opening up a world of possibilities.
Trendy and dynamic, splash is characterised by flashes of colour on a neutral background, giving layouts a character that is both playful and intense, to stand out with originality while playing on refinement.
To conclude, several Marmoleum marbled references are available in a decibel version with unique acoustic performance of 19 dB. Finally, all the floor coverings in the collection have an unrivalled lifespan and retain their aesthetic appearance over time, resisting impacts and cigarette burns in particular. Reinforcing this durability, its Topshield2 surface treatment, which avoids any need for metallisation, provides stain protection for an easy-to-clean floor.
